Dr. Ralph Medele, Neurosurgeon, Head of Wirbelsäulenzentrum am Stiglmaierplatz
Dr. med. Ralph Medele is a highly experienced and universally skilled neurosurgeon. He is also founder and head of our centre.
After his medical studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich and an abroad stay at the Universidad Nacional Autóma de México in Mexico City, he undertook an comphensive neurological residency under Prof. Dr. med Reulen at the Münchner Universitätsklinikum Großhadern.
During his time as a scientific researcher at the university, Dr. Medele specialized predominately in issues concerning vascular and spinal neurosurgery in addition to his work at the hospital.
From Großhadern, he took up the position of leading senior doctor of the neurological department at the Barmherzigen Brüder Hospital in Regensburg.
Through numerous additional training courses domestically as well as internationally, Dr. Medele has continually extended his expertise in the field of new, minimally-invasive surgical techniques.
In close cooperation with specialized orthopedic doctors, he has acquired a broad spectrum of non-operative treatment procedures. His motto goes “who shys away from new healing practices, must tolerate old sicknesses” (Surely every medicine is an innovation, and he that will not apply new remedies must expect new evils for time is the greatest innovator.)
Since 2004, Dr. Medele has worked in Munich as a spine specialist. In 2006, he co-founded the Wirbelsäulenzentrum am Stiglmaierplatz along with Dr. Ständer.
He grew up near Lake Staffel and, as a proud father of a son, prefers to spend his free time with his family. Additionally, he enjoys riding his motorbike, a passion since his youth.
