Radiologist and Neuroradiologist
Dr. Stefanie Müller-Schunk completed her medical studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians University. She started her clinical career at Klinikum Rechts der Isar, operated by the Technical University Munich. She started her training in the Radiology department under Professor Gerhardt and later continued in the surgical clinic under Professor Siewert.
In 1999, she moved to the Ludwig-Maximilians University at the Großhadern Hospital and worked there for 10 years in the Radiology department under Professor Brückmann. In this period, she completed her specialist on-the-job training for diagnostic radiology under the supervision of Professor Reiser. Her scientific work goes along the lines of functional magnetic resonance imaging. She also wrote her post graduate doctoral thesis in this field.
She rounded off her neuroscientific expertise with a final year of clinical work at the Neurological University Clinic, Großhadern, and at the European Cyberknife Center. In 2006, Dr. Müller-Schunk became the senior specialist in the neuroradiological department, responsible for diagnostics and interventional therapy of cerebrovascular diseases.
She founded the reserach group focussing on “periinterventional coagulation management at neurointerventions“ and was awarded the Innovation Prize from the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Neuroradiologie (German Association for Neuroradiology).
Dr. Müller-Schunk had her daughter in 2008 and in order to cater to her family, she left the University clinic and has been employed by the Radiology am Stiglmaierplatz since then.
As a born Munich native, she is very enthusiastic about sports especially given her past skiing triumphs. She has won numerous titles in German youth, international student and doctor competitions.
